As you know, our current collective bargaining agreement has expired and a new one is currently being negotiated. Contract negotiations can be very stressful times. The company began by attacking our fringe benefits. Laidlaw had proposed major reductions in our health care coverage, significant reductions in our child care leave and other take-aways. The company also attempted to replace our discipline language with wording that would have almost allowed them to terminate at will. The last thing we want to do is have a work stoppage. We hope the company continues to bargain in good faith and treats this loyal workforce with the humanity and dignity it deserves.
